Adopt a Rescue
It is mind blowing seeing so many animals that owners relinquish to the shelter. But I am mostly perplexed when senior or special needs animals are dumped so families can find a newer or more improved version. The sad reality is that many of these animals are overlooked and never adopted.
I literally don't get it. These animals are often the most loving and kind companions with a lifetime of love given to their owners and then unceremoniously discarded to live the rest of their lives in a cage and then killed alone on a cold table.
For instance, this is Lily. She was dumped at animal control with the SPECIFIC REQUEST THAT SHE BE EUTHANIZED! WTF!!! REALLY?!?
That is when special people like Carla Naden from Animal Synergy step in and rescue these animals, often with only minutes to spare, before these animals are put down. They are the conduit from the executioners hand to loving homes.
After the rescue, these animals are placed with a foster until an adopter is found. In order to make room for more animals to be saved from shelters, permanent homes need to be found. It is now Lily's turn to find her forever home.
I have had the privilege to spend a lot of time with Lily. She is amazingly sweet, ridiculously funny, fabulous on the leash, and full of mushy LOVE. She plays well with other dogs and children, and she loves going for rides and walks and spending time cuddling on the couch.
She is an 11 year old Cocker Spaniel/Chihuahua mix, house trained and up to date on shots. Although she has a medical condition that requires medication and a special diet due to kidney issues, she still lives a normal life.
